Family Portrait

The NaPoWriMo prompt for April 2 was to write about family. I had already planned to write about one sister (caused me to sit up) so I tweaked my thoughts to include everyone in my family.

Gathering everyone together

Wondering what to wear

Mom and dad so young

Mom a seamstress first at home

Later in a factory

Cooked scrumptious meals

Responsible for all

Gone too soon after the picture

Dad an Army soldier in Korea

A farmer

Loved family and dancing

Thrived with family and friends

The oldest rescued/adopted

Loved to learn

Second girl born singing

Third girl followed and took charge

Fourth girl thrived on competition

Finally a boy loved outdoors

Just not farming

Girls fussed and doted on the boy

All came from sharecropper parents

All became professionals

Four teachers

One nurse

Finding their way in the world
